Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward was arrested on accusations of physically and sexually assaulting the mother of his child while under the influence of crystal meth in the presence of their child, according to Harris County court records obtained by the New York Post.
Ward, 34, who was a captain for the Texans in 2024, was arrested on a felony domestic violence charge for choking Cristy West, his ex-girlfriend of several years, and re-arrested two weeks ago after testing positive for alcohol, which violated the conditions of his bond. The safety is now facing a civil suit seeking more than $20 million in damages, with West represented by attorney Tony Buzbee, who famously represented the dozens of accusers who claimed sexual assault against former Texans and current Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Ward is accused of forcing his way into West's home at around 4:20 a.m. on June 12, going straight to a bathroom and exhibiting "erratic and aggressive" behavior.
βOn that night, she suspected he was under the influence of methamphetamines, specifically, crystal meth,β the lawsuit states.
Ward allegedly threatened to "f**king kill" West multiple times, having allegedly slapped, choked and "dragged her into a bedroom," according to the lawsuit. The former couple's son was woken up during the incident, at which point West cradled him to calm him down.
Ward then demanded West perform oral sex on him, which she complied to out of fear for her life. Ward later went through West's phone and accused her of talking to other men, at which point she ran out of the house with her son while she was "naked and visibly injured," having called 911 after exiting.
Ward was present at the Texans' training camp, however, was placed on the physically unable to perform list due to offseason foot surgery. The former Northern Illinois standout spent the last two seasons with the franchise after spending his first nine with the San Francisco 49ers.
