Happy Birthday Jermaine Dupri!

Today is Jermaine Dupri's Birthday!

To say this man's had a career is an understatement. On the Mount Rushmore of hip-hop producers, Dupri stands right next to Dr. Dre & Diddy, from So So Def to the song writer's Hall of Fame.

He got his start as a backup dancer with Whodini and continued to perform with the likes of Run-Dmc and Grandmaster Flash. He would later form Kris Kross and the group's first album, Totally Krossed Out, went multi-platinum due to their singles "Jump" and "Warm It Up".

He established So So Def in 1993, and discovered Xscape. Their debut album, Hummin' Comin' at 'Cha, went platinum with, "Understanding", "Love on My Mind", "Tonight" and "Just Kickin' It". During the same year, he met Da Brat and released her debut Funkdafied, which went platinum. So So Def partnered with Columbia Records, and he collaborated with Mariah Carey on the number one single "Always Be My Baby."

Dupri co-wrote and produced on Usher's second album, My Way. "You Make Me Wanna", reached number-one on the Top 40 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart. "Nice & Slow" went to number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and "My Way" peaked at number-two on Billboard Hot 100, as all three singles have been certified Platinum.

In 1998, Jermaine released the singles "Sweetheart" featuring Mariah Carey, "The Party Continues" featuring Da Brat and Usher, and "Money Ain't a Thang" featuring Jay-Z, all from his debut album "Life in 1472".

In 2004 Dupri he connected again with Usher on Confessions co-writing and co-producing "Burn", "Confessions Part II", and "My Boo". Confessions won Best Contemporary R&B Album and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, certified diamond and, sold 10 million copies in the US and over 20 million copies worldwide.

Dupri worked with Mariah Carey again on her The Emancipation Of Mimi with the smash hit "We Belong Together", that stayed at number one for fourteen non-consecutive weeks, becoming the second longest running number one song in US chart history. We Belong Together" won Grammy's for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song. The same year he produced and co-wrote Nelly's single "Grillz", which hit the top the Billboard charts.

A long dynastic career from the golden age of hip-hop to the dominance of the South, Jermaine Dupri is still So So Def!
